The Manitoba Government is expanding its investment in bilingual health care by adding 30 new seats to the Bachelor of Nursing program at the Université de Saint-Boniface (USB). This expansion brings the total capacity to 75 seats, specifically aimed at training French-speaking nurses to serve francophone and bilingual communities throughout the province. With an investment of nearly $220,000 over four years, the initiative addresses a sharp rise in applications at USB, which remains the only institution in Western Canada offering a nursing degree entirely in French. Ministers Renee Cable and Uzoma Asagwara emphasized that the new cohort, beginning in September 2026, is a vital step toward ensuring patients can access high-quality care in the language they find most comfortable.
