Genuineness of the job offer (Sept 17). IRCC has substantially rewritten its officer instructions for assessing whether a job offer is genuine on work permit applications. The instructions now separate the IMP and TFWP assessment steps. They add a procedural fairness process for getting information directly from the employer when genuineness is in doubt, and they address how officers handle extrinsic information. Expect more direct employer contact, so prepare employer clients to respond. (Source: IRCC PDU)

Employer-specific IMP work permits and employer compliance inspections (Sept 18). Both instruction pages now reflect the current employer attestation text in the Employer Portal and line up with the new genuineness guidance. IME exemption under the TPP, Express Entry completeness check (Sept 22). IRCC clarified who qualifies for the temporary public policy that exempts certain in-Canada foreign nationals from the immigration medical exam.
