Alberta Minister of Education and Childcare Demetrios Nicolaides will visit France from September 12 to 19, 2026, to bolster international education partnerships and promote language programs. During the week-long mission, the minister will meet with French education officials to expand student and teacher mobility initiatives and renew foundational bilateral agreements. The province will sign a letter of intent with France's National Ministry of Education and a memorandum of understanding with La Region Academique Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. Accompanied by superintendents from Alberta’s four francophone school boards, Nicolaides aims to enhance French-language education and build upon prior successes, such as the student exchange pilot launched in the 2025–2026 school year.
