New Brunswick signs a healthcare agreement with Indonesia to address the workforce shortage

New Brunswick has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia, marking the first formal healthcare recruitment partnership between Indonesia and a Canadian jurisdiction. The agreement establishes a framework for recruiting trained nurses and personal support workers from Indonesia to address the province's healthcare workforce shortage. New Brunswick will provide navigation support, including assistance with foreign qualification recognition and immigration processes. Since 2019, over 1,300 internationally educated nurses have been recruited to work in the province, with expedited pathways developed for nurses trained in 14 countries to become licensed sooner.
