Ontario invests in training programs for internationally educated healthcare professionals

The Ontario Government is funding specialized training projects through its Skills Development Fund to help internationally trained healthcare professionals restart their careers. Through an investment exceeding $10.9 million across ten sector projects, organizations such as the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario and ACCES will receive targeted funding. These programs will support internationally educated nurses, doctors, and pharmacists with localized healthcare training, licensing support, mentorship, and paid work placements. Participants will also receive assistance with Canadian healthcare communication and relocation to areas in need, including Northern Ontario, helping address persistent regional staffing shortages across the province.
