The Government of Canada has reported a 31% reduction in study permits issued to Indian students during the first quarter of 2025. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the number of permits dropped from 44,295 in 2024 to 30,640. This decline aligns with Canada's broader immigration policy reforms, which include stricter financial requirements and enhanced verification processes. The changes are part of the country's strategy to maintain sustainable immigration levels, with a new annual cap of 437,000 study permits implemented through 2026.
