Canada hosts over 2.36 million temporary residents, comprising 546,562 study permit holders, 1.5 million work permit holders, and 312,010 individuals with both permits. While the government has implemented measures to reduce new arrivals, existing applications continue to be processed under previous rules, delaying the impact of these changes. Notably, Canada's immigration strategy is evolving, with over 100,000 temporary residents transitioning to permanent residency in the first half of 2025—representing approximately 50% of all new permanent residents and highlighting Canada's commitment to retaining well-integrated individuals who contribute to economic growth.
