Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced significant amendments to the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots on July 30, 2025. The updated ministerial instructions reduce the required work experience from 12 to 6 months, now accept international experience, and extend the qualifying period to 36 months before application. Additionally, applicants meeting work requirements can now apply before receiving occupation-restricted work permits, while bridging permit instructions for Provincial Nominee Programs have been clarified. These changes substantially expand pathways to permanent residency for caregivers.
