Prince Edward Island celebrates the anniversary of the French Language Services Act

The French Language Services Act (FLSA), passed on December 14, 2013, in Prince Edward Island, harmonizes the service needs of the Acadian and Francophone communities with the government's ability to provide those services. The Act, announced in English and French, represents the first significant shift in French language services in over a decade and was born out of substantial community collaboration. Since then, the government has boosted bilingual roles, doubled the count of bilingual staff, broadened online services in French, and enhanced French-designated services. Looking ahead, the plan is to introduce new services and positions, work closely with the Acadian and Francophone Community Advisory Committee, fund French language services initiatives, and ramp up the provision of online content in French.
