NWT Nominee Program launches new expression of interest system for 2026

The Northwest Territories Nominee Program will reopen on March 9, 2026, with significant changes to its Employer-Driven Stream. The territory has been allocated 197 nominations for the year and is introducing an Expression of Interest system to improve fairness and transparency. Employers will submit profiles for foreign workers, which will be scored based on work experience, education, language proficiency, and connections to the NWT. The first selection draw is scheduled for March 25, 2026, with up to 65 applicants expected to receive invitations. The Francophone and Business streams will continue operating on a first-come, first-served basis. This new approach responds to stakeholder feedback requesting clearer processes and better alignment with local labour needs.
