Nova Scotia announced immigration priorities for 2025

In response to overwhelming application volumes exceeding 2025 approval capacity, Nova Scotia's Immigration and Population Growth Branch has implemented strategic prioritization measures for its economic immigration programs. Current residents with expiring work permits, particularly those in the healthcare, social assistance, and construction sectors, who are likely to remain in the province in the long term, will receive priority processing. For applicants from Outside Canada, only those in priority sectors will be considered, with limited exceptions for Atlantic Immigration Program employers hiring in trucking, science and technology, clean energy, and resource development industries. The province’s 2026 planning will commence once federal allocation figures are provided.
