Immigration lawyers and consultants are voicing alarm over apparent inconsistencies in Canada's visa application process, attributing errors to IRCC's increased reliance on computer-assisted decision-making technology. Despite IRCC's insistence that human officers make final determinations, professionals cite cases where applications were clearly mishandled, including refusals claiming missing documents that were actually submitted. With over 2.2 million applications in the system and 901,000 backlogged cases, the department's Chinook tool allows officers to process up to 150 applications simultaneously, raising serious procedural fairness concerns.
