The preliminary data for August 2025 indicates a significant 14.9% year-over-year decrease in international arrivals to Canada, totalling 6.6 million visitors. While non-resident arrivals by air showed a marginal increase of 0.4% to 1.2 million, Canadian-resident return trips experienced notable declines across all modes of transportation. Air Canada's mid-August labour disruptions severely impacted return air travel from the United States, which fell by 25.4%. Despite overall declines, the Labour Day weekend saw peak traffic with US-resident arrivals 18.2% higher than other August weekends.
