CBSA removes 10,607 inadmissible individuals from Canada in the first half of 2026

On July 24, 2026, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) published updated enforcement statistics showing that 10,607 inadmissible individuals were removed from Canada between January 1 and June 30, 2026. Quebec recorded the highest number of enforced removals at 5,467, followed by the Greater Toronto Area with 2,674, the Pacific Region with 906, and the Prairie Region with 839. Most removals involved immigration non-compliance: 8,551 cases concerned refugee claimants and 1,303 involved non-claimants, while 624 individuals were removed on criminality grounds, 55 for misrepresentation, and 41 for organized crime. By citizenship, Indian nationals accounted for the largest number of removals at 3,323, followed by Mexican nationals at 1,573 and Haitian nationals at 431. The agency states that removals are an essential part of maintaining the integrity of Canada's immigration system and ensuring fairness for those who comply with immigration laws.
