The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has commenced operations at its new temporary designated immigrant station in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec, designed to house up to 25 high-risk adult male detainees. Located on the site of the Correctional Service of Canada's Regional Reception Centre, this secure facility accommodates individuals with prior violent crime convictions or those demonstrating behaviour requiring enhanced supervision. The facility, entirely under CBSA authority and separate from CSC spaces, provides detainees with access to legal representation, medical services, and recreational areas, while maintaining transparency through third-party monitoring by organizations like the Canadian Red Cross.
