Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab announced that Canada will extend special immigration measures for Palestinians currently in Canada who cannot return home due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The measures, first introduced in December 2023, provide fee-exempt permits and status extensions for Palestinians in Canada and family members of Canadian residents who fled Gaza after October 7, 2023. To date, over 1,750 people from Gaza have been approved to enter Canada after security screening, with more than 860 having already arrived safely. Officials continue processing applications while advocating for those still trapped in the region.#gaza_crisis, #palestinian_refugees, #humanitarian_aid, #refugee_assistance
