Alberta sees highest population increase in Canada

Despite a slower start in 2024, Alberta is leading in population growth through interprovincial migration in Canada. Although the number of migrants to the province in Q1 of 2024 was 8.9% lower than in 2023, Alberta still saw a net gain of 12,482, making it one of only three provinces to see such an increase. This marks Alberta's 11th consecutive quarter of net gains, a significant change after losses in 19 out of 24 quarters from Q3 2015 to Q2 2021. The main contributors to Alberta's net gain were people moving from Ontario and British Columbia.
