Statistics Canada has released a comprehensive analysis examining the demographic characteristics and socioeconomic experiences of Chinese populations throughout the country. Published on February 13, 2026, the report finds that this community doubled in size between 1996 and 2021, reaching 1.7 million individuals, representing 4.7% of Canada's total population. The study highlights significant diversity in immigration patterns, with nearly half born in China and over one-quarter born in Canada. While the community demonstrates high educational achievement – with over 60% of those aged 25 to 54 holding bachelor's degrees – the data also indicates ongoing challenges, including higher unemployment rates and discrimination experiences reported by more than 60% of respondents between 2015 and 2020.
