Quebec shifts from multiculturalism to interculturalism under the new integration model

Quebec's Minister Jean-François Roberge has declared the end of multiculturalism in the province, introducing a new integration model based on interculturalism. The minister announced that immigrants must now embrace Quebec's social contract, which emphasizes French language, democracy, gender equality, and secularism. A comprehensive "National Policy on Integration into the Quebec Nation and the Common Culture" will be implemented before 2026, requiring all government entities to ensure that funded projects align with these foundational principles. Bill 84, supported by the Parti Quebecois but opposed by Solidarity and Liberals, marks a transformative change in Quebec's approach to cultural integration.
