Nova Scotia's Pictou County unveiled priority sectors for the rural immigration pathway in 2025

Pictou County has identified strategic priority sectors and occupations as part of the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), marking a significant advancement in Canada's rural immigration framework. Located approximately two hours from Halifax, the county comprises diverse regions, including Pictou Landing First Nation and various municipalities. The initiative has identified five key sectors for development: Business and Finance, Healthcare, Sales and Service, Trades and Transport, and Manufacturing. Through the designation of 25 priority occupations, encompassing roles such as cybersecurity specialists and healthcare professionals, this program aims to address regional workforce needs while providing permanent residence opportunities for qualified international candidates.
