Mark Carney's Liberal Party has secured a minority government in Canada's 2025 federal election, suggesting a continuation of current immigration policies. The party pledges to maintain permanent resident admissions at less than 1% of Canada's population annually beyond 2027, with targets set at 395,000 in 2025 and decreasing to 365,000 by 2027. Additionally, they aim to reduce the number of temporary residents from the current 7.25% to below 5% of the population by 2027, while maintaining existing immigration caps until housing infrastructure catches up with recent population growth.
