Canada proposes changes to study permits for international students

The Government of Canada has proposed new regulations to improve oversight of Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) and international students. These changes, currently under consultation until July 29, 2024, aim to address issues like monitoring student attendance and verifying letters of acceptance. If enacted, DLIs will be required to report on student enrollment, and study permits will become invalid if a student stops attending their DLI. Additionally, international students will need a new permit to switch schools. On a positive note, the changes would allow students to work 24 hours a week off campus.
